LOST IN TRANSLATION LAGOS X SEOUL

Blurb:

Amaka's heart was shattered when her ex cheated on her. Encouraged by her friends to get back out there, she reluctantly joins an online dating app-never expecting to match with a mysterious Korean guy, Jinwoo. What starts as awkward chats through a translator soon turns into late-night conversations, laughter, and confessions of feelings... despite the fact that they don't speak each other's language. They navigate miscommunications, cultural differences, and the chaos of long-distance love, but just when things seem perfect, a week-long silence shatters their fragile connection. Years later, after heartbreak, overthinking, and blocked messages, Jinwoo-now fluent in English-arrives in Lagos, determined to find the girl he never stopped loving. What happens when the boy from your online dreams shows up in real life? A story of love, language barriers, heartbreak, and the wild surprises life throws your way.

Excerpt:

Amaka’s thumb hovered over the screen. One swipe, and the mysterious Korean boy would disappear like every other profile she had rejected. “Abeg, swipe right,” Anita urged, leaning closer. Amaka laughed nervously and tapped the screen. Match. A message appeared almost immediately, filled with Korean characters she couldn’t read. “What is this?” she whispered. Anita copied the text into a translator and read aloud, “Hello. You look beautiful.” The three girls screamed. Amaka typed back carefully, “Hi… thank you.” Seconds later, another message arrived. You… smile… like sun. I like. For the first time in weeks, Amaka smiled.
