Chapter 1: The Sea’s viewWe were laughing and drinking when Eric suddenly exclaimed, "Oh! The boats are here, let's go!" He grabbed me and pulled me towards the water while Nish gave me a playful push from behind. "Oh, okay! You guys go, I'll wait on the shore... I'm NOT going in!" I protested, trying to resist their efforts. The thought of being on the water brought back unsettling memories, and I was determined to stay on solid ground. "Come on, man, be brave. The only way to overcome your fear is to face it!" Eric encouraged me. “Annop! Stop being a pussy! Be a man!” Despite his persuasive words, I remained steadfast in my refusal. Nish, undeterred, continued to urge me forward, his playful demeanor masking the underlying seriousness of his attempt to help me confront my fear. The seaside carnival was renowned for its vibrant atmosphere, with neon lights and glowing paint transforming the crowd into a mesmerizing spectacle. While the festivities appeared exhilarating, the mere thought of venturing into the sea filled me with dread. I would have much preferred the comfort of my home to the potential triggers lurking in the water. For the next ten minutes, the neon-lit shoreline was all I could see. Eric's persuasive words seemed to be working their magic, and I began to feel a surge of confidence. However, as we moved farther away from the shore, my mind started to race, and my vision blurred at the edges. The once vibrant colors faded into a terrifying pitch black. My world dissolved into darkness.
