I know it's lame but when I'm struggling to find a word or phrasing or dialogue I just keep typing or writing until it looks or feels right. Even if something is a run on I make sure to get down all the info I need. Then later, when I'm not on a plot run I can better rearrange the sentance.

I find this is really useful with specific tricky lines, to just put in a placeholder and move one. Like [insert joke here] or a really abreviated summary like 'then she insulted him and ran away' that I can turn into something more concrete later.

I don't think that it's lame, and I'm doing it the same way - I just keep writing, and often, if you read the entire chapter instead of just this one paragraph, then you suddenly find the right wording ... wish you luck for this year's November Challenge ...

The other thing —sometimes it's not as bad as you think. I guess your brain is just more negative sometimes? Anyway there have been times where I've known something was terrible and just moved on, but then when I look back, I realise it was fine.
