Lost the Side Plot

justinc.06t:

In my story, there are two side plots: one is a succession crisis on a planet. A former kingdom is having a succession crisis. Two claimants (Earl Charles vs. Earl Aaron) to the throne, a former Lord Protector Earl Anthony Marceau.... kinda like the English Civil War/ War of the Roses. I forgot how it should be resolved when I first started writing a year ago. Any ideas on how I should resolve it? The stalemate is broken when bombs go off and partially destroy Charles and Aaron's houses or business interests. Marceau is later assassinated. Who is responsible? I still can't decide. No clue. Any ideas from the forum?

unfortunately, i don't really have enough information just from this post alone on what's going on to say anything :( i have a few clarifying questions to start with- - what are Charles and Aaron like? what are their backstories? what positions do they have within this society? they're both Earls, but is one a higher rank of nobility than the other? - you say that the stalemate is broken when bombs go off. what party would it be most interesting if they were responsible? basically, i think if you havent already, you need to nail down more info about Charles and Earl (and Marceau... i may have misread, is he in the running for the throne too?) before you can settle on whos responsible. i don't really know enough about your world and story to make any suggestions on that front, sorry! but i would love to know more.
