Most updates are minor improvements, but I'll post major changes or features I'm especially proud of here.
Public profiles/sharable goals Previously you could only view your own profile. Now you can click on a comment's author to navigate to their profile, which at the moment just shows their display name and a short description if they've added one. Goals are private by default, but if you click the eye icon you can set a goal to public, which means your graph will show up on your profile as well.
Toggle between perday and cumulative word count! A bar chart to see how much you've written perday, and a line chart to see your cumulative total. You can update in either mode ๐
Custom goals No more are we locked in to precisely 50,000 words and 30 days! Personally I'll be doing a 'warm up week' of writing 500 words per day for the week before the challenge starts... mostly to check the feature is working well, but also because I think warming up is a good idea!
Badges! Okay, I'm super excited about this one! Previously, the nanowrimo site had 'badges' that got awarded when reached a milestone, like hiting 10K etc. Now novel november has them too! So far there are 7 possible badges that you can get, and (spoiler) you can get the first one by hitting 1667 word on November 1st! There's also confetti, which was very fun to play with during development. Enjoy!
Now with dark mode In response to popular demand (okay one person, but still) the site now respects the dark/light prefences of the browser or device. I've tested it in chrome on desktop and mobile, so please let me know if there are issues in other browsers. Also, I don't usually use dark mode, so I'm not super confident about the colour choices etc. Feedback welcome.
Like button You can now click the heart on a comment to show the poster your love! I've set it up in a way to enable other reaction in future (maybe a laugh), and I also keep track of who the like were by, so it would be possible to do something like 'Alice, Bob, and 3 other liked this comment', but I'll see the simple version goes for now.
Reply button Press the little arrow to reply to a comment.
Quick Links Easily check in on threads with recent activity, and threads that you've started. I'd also like to add a button to favourite/unfavorite a thread, and show all the threads you've been active in, but that's on the "maybe next year" list.
