Bethany:

Hello, my name is Bethany. I'm a programmer, and I've been participating in NaNoWriMo since 2018, and had my first win in 2021. This year I'm hoping to connect with other programmers in the writing community to work on an open source platform to replace what was lost when nanowrimo.com shut down, and find ways to solve the problems the old site ran into. Goals: - Community driven development. I've made the code open source on github, which means any programmer can open a PR to fix a bug or implement a new feature. Development won't grind to a halt because a company overspends and can't afford to keep paying its tech team. - Adaptable. When new issues/community demands come up, there needs to be some way to respond. If a simple moderation system doesn't work, we need to be able to develop a better one, not just give up and lock the forums. This is another benefit of open source code. - Flexible. Places like discord and reddit are great, as are out-of-the box web development solutions like squarespace, but they don't give the ability to make simple writing challenge specific things like a word tracker or acheivements,
