Curious about what other stuff everyone has going on in their lives. Is anyone else struggling as much as I am with juggling work and this hobby? I'm a programmer and I work from home. Convincing myself to go back on the computer and focus on writing after finishing work for they day is feeling really hard... maybe I should try handwriting or something, I dunno.
I don't have a great answer for you, but hopefully a little encouragement. I also work from home and am on a laptop all day - and what helps me most is getting out in nature or just out of my house in general and going after a word count or a specific idea in my head. It might feel weird to go and sit in the local park with your laptop but I'm telling you there's something about being out of the house with a goal that seems to feed productivity. Try paper and pen for sure - anything to make it feel different than the mundane stuff you're doing all day. And at the end of the day writing should make us feel really awesome and if it's not doing that for you right now it's totally okay to take a break from it.
I wouldn't worry about it what others are doing too much. I think juggling a time-consuming hobby like writing has serious caveats. You will always no matter what, need to do this at your own pace. I find that when I am low on time management, I keep a notebook and jot down the bullets of what I was thinking about, so I don't have to worry. Keep a board you can pin it to, and just note somewhere on it what chapter or what part of the book it belongs in to make it easy to revisit. I already think your doing great. You type all day and stare at a screen endlessly--BUT you still have the desire to go back home and do it some more. so don't you worry about large goal setting. You got this!

It's spring where I am, so unfortunatly the whether is a little unpredictable. It's been pouring with rain the last few days 😭

In 2014, I was working a full time job in a software company (on the computer) and in graduate school in a 100% online program (also on the computer), and doing NaNoWrimo. I recall writing 20 minutes at lunch and then another hour after I finished homework. I didn't always meet the daily goals. Weekends was when I caught up with a 2000 to 3000 word days. On weekdays, I would devote just one hour a day. Most importantly, during NaNo month, I cut off all social media. We waste so much time on social media. I heard it called as planned neglect: neglect what gets in the way of your goal.
